Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace
The Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace provides employees with fundamental health and safety knowledge required in the workplace to equip them to work safely and effectively in a busy environment. Employees will be able to use what they have learned to protect themselves and those in the workplace.
CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) accredited Level 2 in Health & Safety in the Workplace gives first tier workers an appreciation of the fundamentals of safe working practices.
Course Content
Successful completion of the training programme and assessment will enable candidates to understand:
- The nature of health & safety and be able to recognise the consequences of poor health & safety standards.
- The scope of legislation requirements and be able to understand the consequences of non-compliance.
- The importance of preventing work related ill health.
- The principles of accident prevention.
- The risk associated with poor welfare facilities.
- Hazards and risks associated with workplace and work equipment.
- Risk assessment is an important technique for accident and ill health prevention.
- Risks associated with manual handling.
- Appreciate the nature and risks of hazardous substances.
- How workplace equipment and task design affect health and safety.
- The hazards and risks associated with working at heights.
- The hazards and risks associated with working with vehicles.
- The potential long term and short term effects of exposure to noise and vibration.
Length of Course
Minimum course time is 6 hours (9am to 4.30) - times can be extended according to the groups' needs.
Accreditation Format
- Assessment - 30 multiple choice question paper.
- Pass mark - 20.
Oral assessment papers are available for candidates who have difficulties reading - this can be arranged prior to course. Assessment can also be taken in a variety of languages. Course books are available in selective languages and can be ordered prior to course if required.
